Since
I was a child, I was interested in racing, especially Formula
1. When I was a child in Germany, my parents bought me a
Carrera Rennbahn (slot car set) for Christmas. I used to
have lots of fun with it but I never expanded the orginal
set. When I was older, I bought a Stabo Car. I had to modify
it to run on my Carrera track set since the guides and pickup
braids were different. Now that I'm an "older"
child still interested in racing, I decided to renew
my interest in slot cars.
After
watching a program about slot cars on tv, and going to a
local hobby shop three times, I decided to purchase a set.
I was amazed at all the different brands and the intricate
detail of the models. They sure have improved over the years,
like everything else. Unfortunately I don't have the orginal
set I had as a child - they'd be antiques now. In these
days of computers, cyberspace, and web pages, I could not
believe how much information is out there and I regularly
surf the net for slot car pages (see "links").
